Military women reconnect with nature through Rise and Renew wellbeing programme
Women from across the armed forces community have been taking time to reconnect with themselves, each other and the natural world through Cyrenians’ Rise and Renew wellbeing programme.
Open to serving personnel, reservists, veterans, partners and wider family members, the free programme provided a welcoming space to step away from the pressures of everyday life, build new connections and focus on wellbeing in a supportive environment.
Held twice a month, participants enjoyed a varied programme of nature-based and wellbeing activities including Nature Yoga, Forest Bathing, Sound Bath and Meditation sessions, Relaxation Workshops, Nature Art, Kitchen Herbs, Edible Flowers and Spring Wreath Making.

Each session offered something different, from gentle movement and meditation to immersive sound baths, creative workshops and opportunities to slow down and reconnect with nature. Whether stretching through a yoga session followed by tea and cake, experiencing the calming practice of forest bathing, unwinding during a sound bath or learning practical relaxation techniques to take home, every activity was designed to help participants recharge while connecting with others who understand the unique experiences of military life.
The impact of the programme is reflected in the feedback from those who attended.

By bringing women together in a relaxed, understanding environment, Rise and Renew has shown how taking time to pause, learn something new and connect with nature can have a meaningful impact on wellbeing.
The programme returns this autumn with a new series of Rise and Renew sessions for women with a military connection. Alongside this, Cyrenians is launching Rainbow Reset, a new monthly wellbeing programme for members of the LGBTQIA+ armed forces community. Beginning on 15 August with a free Laughter Yoga session, Rainbow Reset will provide another welcoming space for people with a military connection to connect with others, support their wellbeing and build a sense of community.
