Help for Heroes Community Development: One Year On
Now one year on, we wanted to provide an update on what’s been happening within our new community development team here in Scotland and share a few highlights from over the past year
By Jen Carroll, Help for Heroes
The last year has been full of good news, with lots of exciting activity happening across our neighbourhoods and communities.
We now have a total of 16 community builders across the UK, with 3 of those across Scotland and feel it’s important for veterans & the wider community to be part of the brilliant changes and work happening in those regions.
Our focus has been on bringing people together & supporting them to make positive changes where they live, along with making lasting connections – thus creating happier, healthier & stronger communities.
We have launched several drop-in cafes with more on the way, partnered with sporting bodies to bring local events & been out & about in the local communities, chatting to members of the armed forces to really find out what’s important to them, what’s happening and what communities would like to see change – but most importantly, how they can be part of that change!
If you, or a member of the armed forces has a skill, interest or idea you would like to discuss with us – we would love to hear from you and chat through the options of bringing that idea to life! It could be to introduce an activity to a group of people or start a new club or social gathering in your area – reach out to us today, we would love to hear from you!
