Community Veterans Support
Provided by: Community Veterans Support
Community Veterans Support has been a beacon of hope for armed forces veterans for over 12 years, dedicated to meeting them at their point of need. Initially created to help veterans transition from military to civilian life, it has evolved into a comprehensive drop-in and support centre that operates five days a week:
A free hot lunch Monday to Friday, breakfast and snacks. A safe space and welcoming environment. Emergency food and essential item parcels. Emergency accommodation. Employment assistance. Emergency financial support (small grants to cover utilities). A host of activities and a program of outings supporting positive physical and mental wellbeing.
Four year ago we received the Equalities Network ‘Rainbow Mark’ and the ‘Pride in Veterans Standards Award by the LGBTQI+ veterans charity ‘Fighting with Pride’ in recognition of our staff training programme and work in making our Centre is a safe and welcoming space for the LGBTQI+ communities.
