Archaeology Towards Employment

This is for you if you are a parent living in Midlothian:

• Aged 18-25 and looking for work or a fresh start, including veterans
• want to be build confidence and skills
• enjoy being outdoors or trying something new
• feel unsure about your next step

Every Tuesday and Thursday 10am-2pm

At Newbattle Abbey College, Dalkeith EH22 3LL

No experience needed – just curiosity! Lunch and refreshments provided. Travel costs reimbursed and assisted travel can be arranged.

What you’ll do:

• Try real archaeology activities with a professional archaeologist
• Learn practical and transferable skills
• Meet new people in a relaxed setting
• Get support with confidence and wellbeing
• Explore pathways into training, volunteering, or employment

Waiting List:

We are looking for 10 young people to take part in this programme. A waiting list will be started once that number has been reached. We endeavour to meet participants and have an informal chat with both them, and their referer, before the course begins.

Venue / Location

We are based in the grounds of Newbattle Abbey College. There are paved paths around the business park and more uneven paths through the woods. Accessible toilets are available in the College but our project toilets are not accessible. There is blue badge parking at the front of the college and the x95 bus stops at the gate to the College.
